Presque Isle, ME – The UMPI Women's Soccer team continues to add new recruits to their 2021 roster. The Owls add Zhoreen Malik announces her decision to attend UMPI and play for the Owls. She is a junior transfer from University of Maine at Fort Kent, with two more years of playing left in her college career.
Malik attended Aga Khan Academy in her high school years, receiving many different honors in her time there. Honors including, the Golden Boot, MVP, and named Most Athletic Female Athlete. Also attending Union College for her first two years before transferring to UMFK. Playing both forward and midfield on the field.
Malik spoke about her decision to attend UMPI, "Transferring to UMPI was a hard decision to make, but it is the best step to a fresh start and a step to get closer to my goals. Sometimes stepping out of your comfort zone may feel unusual, but certainly is the best thing"
Head Coach Aaron Marston spoke very highly of Malik's abilities on the soccer field, "Zhoreen is a talented and skilled player. She is dangerous with the ball on her foot and has good vision on the field. We are very excited to have her join our team and we are looking for her to have an immediate impact and we are looking forward to seeing her continue to progress over the next two seasons."
The Owls family is excited to welcome Zhoreen Malik to UMPI and will look forward to seeing her on the field this fall season.
