Presque Isle, ME – The University of Maine at Presque Isle Owls Women's Soccer team adds another Aroostook County star to their 2021 roster. Shaylee Jandreau is a defender from Fort Kent High School, who will look to major in Exercise Science at UMPI and minor in Nutrition in an eventual goal to be a Physical Therapist.
Shaylee played four years on the varsity team at Fort Kent High School, starting for three years. In her sophomore and junior years, she helped lead the team to the state championship game, winning the state championship in her sophomore year and runner up her junior year. Looking to win another championship her senior year, they finished co-champions with Caribou due to the COVID pandemic.
Head Coach at Fort Kent, Doug Cyr, spoke about Shaylee as a player, "Shaylee was a key contributor to the Lady Warriors success with a State Championship, State Championship Runner Up and a Co-Champion Divisional title due to COVID. Her tenacity and presence in the back was part of the core contributing factors to that success. Shaylee will provide solid support for the UMPI Owls."
Coach Aaron Marston at UMPI agreed, "Shaylee has been a solid starting defender for 3 years for an outstanding Fort Kent team. We are looking forward to her joining our team and adding more depth and tenacity to our defense."
"When I decided to go to UMPI my main objective was just to stay close to home and do what I love and soccer is one of those things." Shaylee continued, "I've always loved soccer and I'm looking forward to being a part of the UMPI Women's Soccer team and continuing doing what I love."
The Owls family welcomes Shaylee Jandreau, and everyone is looking forward to see her and her teammates compete this upcoming fall.
