Owls Win Final Game of the Year vs Eagles

Presque Isle, ME – The Owls split with the Husson University Eagles in their final doubleheader of the year. Losing the first game, a North Atlantic Conference game 17-0. The Owls bounced back with a shut out win themselves winning 3-0 in seven innings, winning their final game of the season. Winning there senior day game, celebrating three seniors. Anaiz Diaz, Jordan Hansen and Alyssa Merone.

Game 1 (17-0 – Eagles):

How it happened:

The Owls found themselves even through the first two innings before the Eagles had a huge 11-run third inning. Scoring off ten hits and three Owls errors. Four singles, two double and a triple were amongst the run-scoring hits. The Eagles scored two more runs in the fourth and another four in the fifth inning before closing it out.

On the mound:

Olivia Riitano (Abbot, ME) (2-21) pitched the complete game for the Owls, giving up 11 earned runs and walking six batters. McKenna Smith (15-3) earned the win on the mound, pitching the complete game and striking out eight batters and allowing only one hit.  

Game 2 (3-0 – Owls):

How it happened:

In the Owls final game of the year, senior captain Jordan Hansen (Phillips, NE) earned the win on the mound pitching the complete game. The Owls started off hot with a leadoff walk by Hansen, followed by a huge RBI triple by first year Emma McNally (Patten, ME). McNally followed with some heads up running, scoring with a passed ball the next at bat.

On the mound:

Hansen (3-6) finished her final game with a win on the mound and her first career shutout. Finishing the game with three strikeouts and only allowing five hits on the game. Jen Jones pitched the complete game for the Eagles, striking out nine batters and allowing three earned runs off five hits.

At the plate:

McNally led the Owls with two hits on the game and two RBI's for the first year. Seniors Hansen and Diaz each had a hit on the game, while Hansen scored two of the Owls runs.
