Presque Isle, ME – The University of Maine at Presque Isle is proud to welcome Emma McNally to the UMPI 2021-22 Softball roster. McNally is a graduating senior from Katahdin High School out of Patten, Maine. The infielder spent her first two years of high school ball playing second base, before moving to shortstop in her last year. McNally plans to major in Exercise Science when coming to UMPI this fall.
In her first year, Emma helped her team to a 13-1 record and to the Regional Semifinals. Sophomore year the team went back to the Regional Semifinals with Emma batting fifth with a .569 batting average on the year. Coming back her senior year, McNally lead off for the team, hitting .592 at the plate with only one strikeout on the year as they placed second in the division.
Emma will play in a travel 18U team out of Brewer, Maine, where she will also prepare for her arrival to UMPI in the fall. "Softball has always been important to me, and one of my favorite activities to participate in." Emma continued, "I'm so excited to be able to pursue softball further than just as a high school sport and attend UMPI."
Emma's high school coach, Justin Stevens, spoke highly of Emma. "I have been coaching Emma since she was a freshman, she is one of the most determined, dedicated and hardworking athlete that's always willing to learn and lead her team. Her skill not only in the field but also at the plate has been essential to our team's success. It's been a true pleasure coaching her through the years."
