Presque Isle, ME – The University of Maine at Presque Isle hosted North Atlantic Conference opponent Thomas College in our annual Owls Invitational. The women's team started the day with a 12:30pm start to their 5K race, followed by the men's *8K at 1:15pm, all at Park Family Field.
With Thomas not being able to have race participants in the women's race, four UMPI runners took to the course. Elizabeth Bitar (Libby) (FY. Percy, ME) led the Owls in her first collage race, finishing with a time of 24:50 and showing a very promising start to her college career. Jayde Whitten (So. St. Albans, ME) finished second with a 25:20 time. Senior Kendra Silvers (Sr. North Berwick, ME) finished with a 26:33 time. Annaset Jackson (So. Wilton, ME) finished with a time of 28:54.
Jarrod Hooper out of Thomas College finished in first in the men's *8K race with a time of 28:35. UMPI's Zackary McAllister (So. Waterville, ME) Finished in 3rd place with a time of 31:01, just edging past two Terrier runners who finished within 30 seconds behind McAllister. Joel Soper (So. Livermore, ME) finished in 9th with a time of 40:19. First Year Campton Tinkman (FY. Manchester, ME) did not finish due to injury.
Men's and women's Cross Country teams plan to head to Thomas College to compete on Sunday October 18th. Time is TBD.
