Tuulima Leads Owls in NAC Championships

Delhi, NY – The Owls men's track & field team competed in the North Atlantic Conference Championship this weekend. Joseph Tuulima (Howland, ME) earns NAC Second Team All-Conference with his second place finish in the shot put with an 11.96m throw, setting a school record in the meantime. Helping the Owls score fifth.

The first year, Tuulima also finishing third in the Discus throwing a new UMPI record, 32.81m in his third throw. Stephen Grierson (Bass Harbor, ME) finished sixth in the 800m run in a time of 2:01.24, setting an UMPI school record. Nyden Reed (Rouge Bluffs, ME) finished 6th in the 100m Dash Finals with a time of 11.96, also finishing ninth in the 200m dash with a time of 24.29, setting PR's in both. The team of Ste. Grierson, Aidan Churchill (Washburn, ME), Reed and Alessandro Marroquin (Weslaco, TX) set a school record in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:42.02.  Marroquin also finishes fourth in the pole vault with a height of 2.95m, scoring for the Owls. Steven Nader (Washburn, ME) earned a sixth place finish with a 38.76m throw in the Javelin and Stanley Grierson (Bass Harbor, ME) set a PR in the Javelin with a 38.68m throw, each scoring for the Owls.

Tuulima highlights the Owls with the school's first All-Conference finish in the teams short five years. The Owls finished with five different Owls scoring points, seven personal records and two school records to round out their year.
