Waterville, ME – The University of Maine at Presque Isle Owls men's golf team traveled down south to take on Thomas College in an 18-hole match. The Terriers hosted the match at Waterville Country Club. This beautiful course is a fairly straight forward course with some exceptionally fast greens. Evan Parsons led all with a 79 in the cold morning to early afternoon round. Dawson Watson (Fy. Fort Fairfield, ME) led the Owls with an 87 (+17) to give him a tied fourth place finish.
Dalton Gillis (Fy. Middleburg, FL) finished with his personal best 88 (+18) as he tied for sixth place with two Thomas College golfers. Payton Jones (So. Green Cove Springs, FL) finished in 9th place with a 90 (+20), while Collin Racine (Jr. Rutland, VT) finished with a 92 (+22) to bring in the final scorer for the Owls.
Christian Mumley (Sr. Guilford, ME) finished 23 over par, Timothy Burns (So. Green Cove Springs, FL) finished 27 over par, Jordan Hanscom (Sr. Lincoln, ME) finished with a 99 and Hunter Conway (Fy. Middleburg, FL) finished his round with a 117 score.
This is the last scheduled match for the Owls golf team, although our athletic department will continue to explore ideas to allow all of our athletes to play in as many matches or games as possible, while still abiding by all of the necessary guidelines.
