Owls Baseball Adds Another Recruit to the '22 Roster

Presque Isle, ME – The Owls baseball team adds a new recruit for the 2022-23 season. Another native of Colorado, Zachary Perkins of Brighton, Colorado to join the Owls. Perkins attended Brighton High School, along with his teammate Garrett Chadwick, also a recent commit.

Another Utility player, Perkins played second base, left field and also spent some time on the mound through his high school years. During his senior year, Perkins hit .278 at the plate including 18 hits, four doubles and three home runs. While also pitching 15.1 innings, recording 24 Ks with a 3.65 ERA and allowing an opponent's batting average of just .169.

Former high school Coach Justin Stringer spoke about what Perkins meant to their team, "Zach was a great 2 way player for us this year. Hitting in the middle of our lineup, playing great defense in LF, and giving us much needed innings on the mound."

"Committing to UMPI was really exciting because I get continue my baseball career and get a good education at a great school." Said Perkins. "I am excited to have Zachary joining our program here at UMPI." Owls Head Coach Roger Stinson adds, "With him being a 2 way player he brings a lot of versatility to our team. He will bring a solid arm to our pitching staff but also gives our coaching staff added options to the field. Please join me in welcoming Zach to our family!!
