Presque Isle, ME – The University of Maine at Presque Isle Owls baseball team welcomes their newest 2022-23 recruit out of Aurora, Colorado. John Garcia will join the Owls this upcoming fall, the infielder will look to major in Business Administration while at UMPI.
Garcia recently graduated from Vista Peak Preparatory in Colorado, during his years the infielder's work ethic was proven by his coaches. When his coach, Coach T, spoke about Garcia he explains the type of athlete he is. "You (Garcia) worked very hard for me and I appreciate it more than you know." Coach continued, "The guys who ask me about playing time I use you (Garcia) as an example of what hard work and earning your spot looks like. Things will change, people will move around but anywhere I put you it's because I know you can do the job."
John Garcia talks about his decision to attend UMPI next year, "I am thankful and grateful for Coach Stinson, Coach Curry, the coaching staff and everyone at UMPI for giving me a chance to continue playing baseball at the next level. I always dreamed of playing baseball for as long as I could at the highest level. And at UMPI I intend to work as hard on the field as in the classroom."
UMPI head baseball coach, Roger Stinson, shares his excitement about bringing in his newest recruit. "I am truly excited to add john to our family here at UMPI. I worked a year ago to get him here but he decided to stay closer to home. When John reached back out this year, I was excited to start the recruitment process with him again." Coach Stinson continued, "I believe john will bring a good work ethic to our already solid group of returner. I am looking forward to seeing john in the Owls uniform and seeing what he brings to our team and staff. Welcome to the family John."
