Owls Baseball Adds Local Star to Roster

Presque Isle, ME – The University of Maine at Presque Isle Owls welcome Elijah Matheson to the 2021-22 Baseball roster. Matheson from Ludlow, ME attended Hodgdon High School where he played on the baseball team, primarily playing first base and catcher.

Matheson plans to be a Secondary Education major while at UMPI. The local baseball star is looking forward to staying close to home, "UMPI's size and distance from home was a big decision maker for me. The short drive makes it easier to visit family on the weekends."

Hodgdon High School head baseball coach Seth Dorr spoke highly of Matheson's talent. "Elijah is a versatile and talented player who can contribute at multiple positions. He leads by example, always giving his best effort and motivating others to do the same. The UMPI Baseball program has gained a valuable asset."

UMPI Baseball coach, Stinson speaks on adding yet another county player to his roster. "I am excited to add another County player to our roster and as I have been fortunate to see Elijah at our clinics in the spring and feel he will bring us some additional depth to our roster and I am excited to see what he does in his 4 years here at UMPI."

The UMPI Owls baseball team, Athletics and whole University welcomes Elijah Matheson.
