Owls at Southern New Hampshire / Host Facility’s First Meet

Hooksett, NH – With ideal weather the Lady Owls set or reestablished school records in the six events contested at the new facility at Southern New Hampshire University on Saturday.  Casey Lovely (Easton, ME), in this her second meet, improved her discus mark to 21.70m/71'-02"while establishing the mark of 21.35m/70'-0" in the javelin.  Her best discus attempt was an improvement of better than 17 feet over last week's performance at Fitchburg state.  Jenny Sanborn's (Sangerville, ME) 19.74 and 42.51 in the 100m and 200m broke both her marks set at St. Lawrence University on March 31.  Chenoa Jackson (Wilton, ME) established the school mark in the mile run at 6:53.56, and her 800m time of 3:09.23 was again better than her previous best, this by more than seven seconds.

Team scores by the men placed them in 12th place of the 17 teams present.  Newcomers Chad Bartlett (Bradley, ME) and Jesse Gonzales (Othello, WA) added some depth to the Owls' squad.  Bartlett set the school record in the shot put by over four feet, "putting" the 16 pounder 10.09m/33'-01".  He also did both horizontal jumps (triple and long) as well as the 200m.  Gonzalez was busy in his debut as he contributed to the 4x100m team's seventh place finish.  He also ran the 100m, 200m, 400m, and the 800m.  The balance of the 4x100m team was Travis Simpson (Maple Shade, NJ), Jahvion Lockridge (Grand Rapids, MI), and Matthew Payan (Auburn, NH).  Other events for the relay runners were Payan (100, 200, long jump), Simpson (200, 400), and Lockridge (100, 200, long jump).

Paul Kaplan (Embden, ME) came within one centimeter of his 11.39m/37'-4.5" triple jump school record.  He also competed in the long jump, 200m, and discus.  Kyle Davis (Addison, ME), besides running his usual 800m, established the UMPI mile mark to beat at 5:15.62.  Andrew Hunt set the initial steeple chase mark at 12:05.12, good enough for sixth place overall and three points.  Other men participating were Adan Mohamed (Portland ME, 800m, mile), Sam Carpenter (New Bedford, MA, shot), Mike Guerrette (Presque Isle, ME, 100, 200, 400, shot), and Allen Stanback (Salem, NJ, shot)

On the 21st the Owls will again be at Fitchburg State University for the Eric Loeschner Memorial with the meet starting at 10:00am.
