Streinz and Hyrnuk lead UMaine Presque Isle skiing to strong results in Craftsbury, VT and Holderness NH
UMPI skiing toed the line Saturday for Day #2 of the Dartmouth Carnival for a 5/10km classic event in Craftsbury, VT.  Sophomore Connor Hyrnuk continues to show good form en route to a 35th place finish, just 6 seconds out of NCAA points which are given to the top 30.  Lydia Streinz also continues a string of strong performances with a 42nd place finish, besting her younger sister Hannah but not her youngest sister Abby.  The combination of College Carnival and Eastern Cup saw them go head to head.
Sunday was the final Eastern Cup on the schedule for this season and the last opportunity for junior athletes to gain points towards earning a spot on the coveted New England Junior National Team. UMPI's young squad of John Paluszek, Jason Bartley, and Connor Hyrnuk all found themselves on the outside of the bubble looking in as to how the points stood heading into this last weekend. Strong performances by all will bring them closer to earning a spot on the New England JN team.  An official team will be named later this week.
