PRESQUE ISLE, ME -- UMPI Softball Freshman Melanee Terry (Moreno Valley, CA) was recently named NCAA Division III First Team All-American by Fastpitch News. Terry was among the top in NCAA Division III in a number of statistical categories this year including: 6th in on-base percentage (.615), 8th in batting average (.526), and 34th in slugging percentage (.884). Terry also boasted a team-best in walks, homeruns and doubles; struckout only three times all season, two of which were during post-season play; hammered in 32 RBIs on the season; and played solid defense with a fielding percentage of .970 on 201 total chances. The Owls went 25-13 this year marking the third consecutive season they have boasted 20 or more wins while also qualifying for the USCAA National Tournament. They also completed the season in 2nd place in the American Collegiate Athletic Association conference tournament.
