Owls Advance to the Championship

Canton, NY—In their third game of the ACAA Tournament the University of Maine at Presque Isle Owls will have a rematch against SUNY Canton.  The Owls would redeem their 7-5 loss earlier in the tournament by winning 10-4, as they will now head to the championship game.

The Owls started off strong as they held the Kangaroos scoreless through the first five innings.   Emily Page (Lincoln, ME) and Marissa Reagle (Seattle, WA) were able to each score off Canton errors in the second and third innings.  In the fifth inning the Owls added to their lead with a double by Page and a two RBI single by Jordi Legassie (Presque Isle, ME).

Canton broke their scoring drought on the day in the sixth inning.  Jaedyn Ossont hit a two RBI single.  Courtney Hyland singled to bring in a run, and Valerie Clark added a RBI double.

After stopping the Kangaroos comeback, Sara Packard (St. Albans, ME) would put an exclamation on the win with a three run homer in the sixth to give the Owls a 10-4 lead.

Packard earned her second complete game in the tournament with this win, striking out three and allowing nine hits.

The Owls advance to the Championship game vs. number one seed Finlandia.  Because Finlandia has not lost the Owls will need to beat them twice as Finlandia will only need one win.
