Rossignol's Hat-trick Leads UMPI Soccer to Win over Hampshire College

 

Amherst, MA - The University of Maine at Presque Isle Men's Soccer team improved their 2018 season record to (3-2) with a 4 to 1 win over Hampshire College (0-1) in Amherst, Massachusetts in a Sunday morning game played at 10:00AM.

The Owls rode the hot foot of Andre Rossignol (Fr. Van Buren, ME) who scored 3 goals in leading the way for UMPI and a weekend split of their two matches played in the Boston area. UMPI went into halftime with a 1 to 0 lead before Rossignol tallied 2 more goals in the 2nd half for a 3 to 0 lead. Midfielder Chad Bartlett (Jr. Bradley, ME) knocked home the 4th score of the day for the Owls on a feed from Stephen Cochrane (Fr. Deer Isle, ME) to put the game away in the 2nd half. The 3 goals for Rossignol was his 2nd hat-trick of the week matching his output against UMaine-Machias on Wednesday.

Presque Isle Goal Keeper Caleb Thompson (So. Washburn, ME) had 4 saves on 9 Hampshire College shots directed his way while the Owls put 16 shots on goal.

UMPI Men's Soccer will open their North Atlantic Conference play on Saturday September 15th at Northern Vermont-Johnson with a game time start of 3:30. The Owls will play a non-conference game at Unity College on Sunday September 16th at 1:00PM
