Owls Open Season in the Rain

PRESQUE ISLE – The Owls Golf team opened up their season in cold and rainy conditions on their home course, Friday.  The visiting Mariners ended up taking the match, shooting some impressive golf despite the conditions.

The Mariners' Erich Klopfer (FR, Palm Harbor, FL) reached the clubhouse with a one over par 73 to pace the field.  Keenan Kalthoff (SR, Fallbrook, CA) shot a 75 and Kevin Pepin (SR, Candia, NH) turned a 77.  The Maine Maritime Black Team ended the day with an impressive 310 team total.  MMA Blue ended the day with a 352.

The Owls were led by Noah Bernard (SO, Fort Fairfield, ME), who shot an 83.  Eric Depner (JR, Farmington, CT) was one stroke off his pace with an 84.  Hazen Dauphine (JR, Bradley, ME) turned in a score of 90, and Adam Begos (SR, Portland, ME) finished the day with a 103.

Despite the inclement weather and results, Head Coach Dan Hotham say some positives in his team's effort to open the season.  "We have lots of room for improvement and I am confident we can play better than we did today."

The Owls return to action on Wednesday as they travel to Castine to participate in the MMA Invitational.
